i have ms excel 2003 and i am making a roster for a soccer team. some of the email addresses have an underscore an when i go to print it, you cannot see the underscores due to the underlining/blue color. is there any way that i can change this?
Is there a way to set ms excel 2003 not to underline email addresses, i need to show underscores in them?
Yes, 3 solutions:
1)select the cell(s) and press the underline button to remove it.
2) select an empty cell. Click the format painter (the button with a paintbrush). Click on the cell with the email address.
3) Select the cell, press control+1 (cell properties) and use the tabs there to remove the underline.
Selecting the cells can be tricky because of the hyperlink. If that is the case you can select the column header where those cells are when using any of the above tricks.
Reply:Under the Format tab, select Style and then in the drop down box select Hyperlink and it shows you the default formatting for all hyperlinks. Select Modify, and then in the underline section select None. Then save the file. Un fortunately this does not set the defaults for every workbook, only the one you have open, so you will have to do this for every workbook
Reply:Yes you can disable the auto-formatting of e-mail addresses if you click on the 'Tools' menu and choose 'AutoCorrect Options'. Click on the 'AutoFormat As You Type' tab to bring it to the front. Remove the check-mark from 'Internet and network paths with hyperlinks' and click OK. Now when you type an e-mail address it won't be blue or have the underline.
Reply:Only way is to not make them a hyperlink. If you do that, you can't click on them.

Can I import email addresses from an Excel or MS Access database or do I have to hand-type them all in?
I need to send a mass email and all I have is their email addresses in Excel and Access databases.
Can I import email addresses from an Excel or MS Access database or do I have to hand-type them all in?
There are a lot of ways to do this depending on the mail program you are using.
One unsophisticated way to do this if you have them all in an Excel column would be to copy (CTRL +C) all the addresses and paste (CTRL + V) into the bcc line of the email.

Can a extract a list of all the email addresses in my MS Outlook folders, not just address book?
Microsoft Outlook 2002.
I want to generate a list of the email addresses (and the names of the people if possible too) from all the emails sitting in my Personal Outlook Folders (Inbox, Sent, etc) as well as in the Archive Folder.
My Contacts doesn't have many addresses in it so I want to update it and then export the Contacts to the MS Outlook on my other computer.
Thanks :)

Add the addresses to your contacts lists, then you can place them on a word document. As far as the messages save the to a file on your drive then sent them to your email address.

How can I transfer my "autosaved" email addresses in MS Outlook?
You know the first time you type a email address into MS Outlook, it saves it for you, not in the address book necessarily but the next time I hit J, I'll get that list with Jimmy, or Jenny or Jerry's email addresses.
I want to transfer all my autosaved email addresses from my old laptop onto my new laptop but I'm having some trouble doing so. I'm currently using the new Outlook (2007) but I would like all my autosaved emails from by old Outlook (2003) transferred to the new one. Please help.
How can I transfer my "autosaved" email addresses in MS Outlook?
This answer assumes you are using Windows XP and can locate files and folders in the Windows interface. You can use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, but it doesn't always transfer the data properly. To transfer the settings manually, locate the NK2 file for your email profile. The file is located in a Documents and Settings folder. If your login name for Windows is Name, the folder would be C:\Documents and Settings\Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. Look for files of type Office Data File. If your computer is set to show file extensions, the extension will be NK2. If not, check the properties of each Office Data File (right click and choose Properties). You can also use the Search function in Windows (on the Start menu) to find files with an NK2 extension. Select All files and folders and then enter *.NK2 in the criteria box. If there is more than one file found, the file you want will most likely have the most recent date/time stamp and will be larger in size than the others.
Once you've located the file, copy it to a removable device or your new computer. Locate the Outlook settings folder on your new laptop and find the NK2 file (or do a Search). Make a copy of the NK2 file (note the name, as it may be different from the one you are replacing it with), delete it and then copy the NK2 file from your old computer to that folder. Rename it if necessary to match the file that was there, start up Outlook and you should be all set.
A few things to consider:
1. Make sure you are not in Outlook (on either computer) while you are doing this.
2. I've used this method successfully for Outlook 2003, but have not attempted it for Outlook 2007.
3. Vista uses a different structure for documents and settings, so your best bet is searching for the NK2 file.
Reply:You can't easily do it as they are stored in the windows registry and in your tempory internet files.
Reply:I also agree that the Files and Transfers Wizard is the best way to go.

Can I prevent an email that I send using MS Outlook from being forwarded or copied? If so, how?
I want to send an email to someone but I do not them to have the ability to forward it or print it. How can I do this using MS Outlook?
Can I prevent an email that I send using MS Outlook from being forwarded or copied? If so, how?
You can't. Impossible. The best you can do is send the content of your message as a .pdf attachment, and forbid most anything. That might help. But one can always make a screenshot of it.

Can I convert a MS Excell list of names and email address to a contact list in MS Office Outlook?
I have a database of names emailed to me as an XL file. I would like to convert them to make a group mailing list for Outlook. Can I do this without plugging them in one at a time??
Can I convert a MS Excell list of names and email address to a contact list in MS Office Outlook?
Yes. Use the Import/Export Wizard, under the File menu, in Outlook.
It is pretty easy to follow. You will choose "Import from another program or file", and navigate to that file.
It is pretty important that the data in your spreadsheet be structured properly for this to work. You should have things like the Name and Address in seperate columns, in the same row. If you have data scattered randomly throughout the sheet, you will either need to organize it properly or enter everything manually.
If that doesn't make sense, you will understand better when you go through the wizard.

I need some VBA code for MS Outlook that searches an email for certain words on opening?
I receive a lot of emails and some are not so urgent. Most of the ones I need to respond to have my name in them. Is there a way I can program VBA for Outlook to pop up a msg telling me that my name is in the email body. This should happen when I am opening the email or when an email arrives. Thanks
I need some VBA code for MS Outlook that searches an email for certain words on opening?
May i suggest an alternative to using code to achieve your goal
1. when viewing inbox, go to view menu, current view, customize current view, click automatic formatting button
2. click Add button, in the Name: box put a name for identification, click Condition... button, messages tab, Search for the word(s): box put your name that would appear in the email that is important, In: box choose subject field and message body, click ok button
3. click Font... button, change the color of font to say red, Font style: Bold, click ok
Then when email comes in and the body of it bears your name will have a bold red header stand out from the rest. In case you don't want it temporarily, go back to the automatic formatting button and from the list select and uncheck the name you create for this format on header.
Hope this helps.

In MS Outloook, how do you get email to send and show up automatically?
I just started a new job and am using Microsoft outlook. At the old place the emails showed up automatically when they were sent to me and would go out as soon as I sent them. Now nothing shows up or goes out unless I hit the "Send/Receive" button.
In MS Outloook, how do you get email to send and show up automatically?
Okay. Where the Send/Receive button is, there should be a little arrow on the right side of the button itself. Click on that, and it will show you a drop down menu. Now you want to click on "Send/Receive Settings". Then click on "Define Send/Receive Groups". In the "Setting for Group All Accounts", check the first two boxes, and then you can set how often you want it to perform a Send/Receive.
Hope I helped!!
Reply:Got to Tools %26gt; Options %26gt; Mail Setup Tab %26gt; Send/Receive button %26gt; Check the box for Schedule an automatic send/receive every *minutes. Where * is the time for how often to perform the task.
Also Check the box for Send immediatly when connected.

How to do a MS Access email validation rule?
I am assuming you mean the Validation Rule of a control in a form. You could create this rule: Is Null Or (Like "*?@?*.?*") This would allow the user to have the email address blank or if the enter something it would force them to have at least one character before the "@", at least one character after the "@" and at least one character after the "."
You can fine tune this to meet your needs. If you want to force your users to use a specific domain like gmail, for example, the Validation Rule could look like (Like "*?@gmail.com")
How to do a MS Access email validation rule?
I'm sorry. Is not a good rule for example, ,/* and other symbols are not allowed in a domain after @.
I need it in the validation.
Is incredible that Microsoft is not so good to think about that. Report Abuse

MS EMail Question - export Outlook mail content and import to MS Mail?
Have brought a new PC and want to transfer over emails from old one to new.
In what format do I save the files to transfer over?
All hints and tips welcome please as I don't have a clue.

MS EMail Question - export Outlook mail content and import to MS Mail?
This depends whether you archive mail or not (pretty pointless on a home pc)
My personal favourite way to do this, is to go into the first computer, open outlook, go to File %26gt; Data File Management
Check the list to see where your outlook.pst is.
Close outlook and copy this file onto cd or something.
If you've not started using outlook on your new computer, you could try opening outlook on it and checking where it's PST is stored, closing outlook, and then copying your old PST over your new PCs outlook.pst

What's the fastest way to add all the email addresses in the Inbox to MS Outlook Contacts?
I have thousands of emails and I don't have time to add all the senders' email addresses to Contacts one by one. Is there a shortcut? Using MS Outlook 2002.
Thanks in advance for your help :)
What's the fastest way to add all the email addresses in the Inbox to MS Outlook Contacts?
If adding means copying something in and making it proper -- you are out of luck
If you want them in your address book and they have properly formed names
open the email, double click on the address, the contact will open (or you can add it) and click "save"
Its then added. Problems arise when you end up with someone who's just "bif@gojonet.com" that's what you'll get when you search your contacts for her ailias, "mary smith"

Does MS Outlook send a copy of email to every recipient in To, CC and BCC? Or they are separate emails?
I know it is the "same" email but from outlook or developer perspective is it a separate email or a copy of the same?
I need to make a small change in the emails if the recipients are in particular domain. And I can list recipients from all domain in like TO, C and BCC together.
This makes me wonder, if its a copy, which copy will a recipient in , say, CC or BCC will recieve.
Thanks.

The CC BCC and stuff can still see the other people's email address which you send it to.

Robyn is usually a female name in the US, but since emails can potentially come from anyone who is an English speaker, you would be safer leaving out any gendered response and perhaps using "to whom it may concern" or some such formulation.
Reply:Robyn is usually female.
Robin is usually male, as in Robin Hood.
I don't know how you should address the email, the person could be either a male or female.
Parents don't have to follow any rules when they name their babies.

How do I make a email download that automaticly opens in MS word to open in Open Office?
It is my resume and I had it saved in my email but all I have is a trial of ms word so I cant change my resume unless I can get it to go to Open Office. Any help would be great. I have windows Vista.
How do I make a email download that automaticly opens in MS word to open in Open Office?
You have to reassociate the email document (the .doc or .docx file) with Open Office rather than MS Word. Try this:
1. In Windows Explorer, find a .doc file. (.docx file for Word 2007)
2. Right-click on it and select Open With. If a menu pops up, select Choose Default Program.
3. If Open Office shows up, select it.
4. If it does not, click the Browse button, navigate to Open Office's directory, and find its main program.
5. In either case, check the checkbox Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.
6. Click OK.
Hope that helps.

My husband deleted emails from ms outlook work email account.?
I want to know is there any way I could use software to get his password. Also, is this legal since this is his work email account?
He has been acting very strange for the past 2 months and I've caught him in several lies.
My husband deleted emails from ms outlook work email account.?
Do not go there. If you have problems with your husband, dealing with issues up front is the best element. You must have been on his account to determine that email has been deleted. Sneaking around, going through his mail, trying to enter a passworded program. I would think, you have trust issues, and his behavior might be based on issue's that he is dealing with, with you. I hate to be so direct, but that little green monster your feeding with doubts and snooping behind your husband will only go larger. This is the man you are suppose to love and trust. If you cannot trust, you cannot love, only want to control. Counseling is my suggestion, and leave his work programs alone.
Reply:Best thing to do is ask him to see it. If he doesnt have anything to hide he will allow u. If not then hes hiding something. If he doesnt then just tell him that you think hes being sneaky and start making him sleep on the couch.
Reply:Not legal.
Breaking into his account is just as sneaky as you think he's being.

In MS Word 2007, can you email a few pages of a long document?
I have a document in MS Word 2007 that consists of 27 pages. Is it possible to email only the last 3 pages of that document, instead of sending the entire document? Thanks a bunch!
In MS Word 2007, can you email a few pages of a long document?
copy the few pages you want to e-mail to a new document, rename the document, and send the new one.
Reply:Why don't you make a copy of the file and delete the first 24 pages and e-mail the new file??
If you want to e-mail the whole thing, you can try to convert it into acrobat pdf format. It will make the file size small enough to e-mail.

Word 2002 Query - Mail Recipient (as attachment)?
I have a Word document that is being competed by people with little or no computer knowledge. When they have completed the doc they save it to HD and then use Outlook 2002 to email the attachment - usually by opening Outlook and then attaching the doc. I know there is a Mail recipient button which they can press and it will auto attach the file to a new email.
My question is, can I create/insert a button into the doc itself which when pressed auto attachs the file to a new email (instead of them having to point to file-send to-mail recipient) and if it is possible, how can I do this please?
Many thanks in advance.

Word 2002 Query - Mail Recipient (as attachment)?
Right click on the menu bar, display the Control Toolbox. Click on the Button icon, this will insert a button. Right click on the button itself, select View Code. You will go into VBA and see
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
End Sub
Between these lines, insert the text
ActiveDocument.SendMail.
Close VBA, and return to Word. Click the ruler/set square icon (the Design icon), and close the control toolbox toorbar. Your button should now work as you want. You can experiment with size and appearance later.
You need to be aware that by inserting macros into the document, users will have to adjust their security settings (Tools%26gt;Macro%26gt;Security) to Medium, or the document won't recognise the macro. On medium, users have to choose to accept the macro, but as long as they understand this, it shouldn't be a problem.
Hope this helps.

How can I put an email address in MS Word that when clicked opens email client & attaches the doc to the msg?
This is mostly about Microsoft Office products as I'm using Word and Outlook as the email client. The idea is to create a form in Word that includes the email address to send the form to as an attachment - and rather than rely on people attaching the MS Word doc themselves, get the application to do it when the Outlook message window appears. Tried Microsoft site and Office help, but couldn't find anything that discussed anything like this. Thanks for your help.

What is the possibility that a computer can not send and retrieve email by using MS Outlook/outlook express?
1. The computer network card was installed, can access to web page(can online), connection running fast, server never turn off, but the account in Outlook Express or MS outlook just can not receive and send email as other computer can, why?
2. When i test to send email in another computer with the same account, the computer can receive and send email. Is that my connection to the server has corrupted? But why it still can online? Where should i configure to make the computer send ans receive email as usual? Thanks.

How can I transfer pop email settings (MS Office Outlook) from 1 PC to another?
I want transfer it to 3 different computers in the office; all have Microsoft Outlook 2007 and I have outlook 2007 at home as well where the actual settings are; I do know how to transfer .pst file but that only transfers emails, contact etc not accounts it self.
How can I transfer pop email settings (MS Office Outlook) from 1 PC to another?
there's no way to transfer the settings themselves. You'll just have to set them up manually on each one. Since it only takes a couple of minutes to set up the account, it would take longer to figure out a way to transfer the settings than it would to just enter them all in again. If you're not sure of the current settings just "edit" your current accounts and write down all the settings (pop3 server, smtp server, etc).

How do I reset my MS Outlook from my email account?
I thought it was a good idea to setup MS Outlook as the default program to check my emails at work. Now i cannot check my mails while at home since all the mails are now in the Outlook program in my office.
It is critical for me to reset the whole setup as it now poses a security issue since my office PC is accesible to personnel other than me.
Help?
How do I reset my MS Outlook from my email account?
If your email account is on Gmail, skip this part, and read down.
By default, Outlook downloads the messages from POP servers, and deletes the messages from the server.
So now the messages are deleted from your inbox.
To avoid that in the future you must set Outlook to keep a copy of the messages it downloads on the server, you can do that from Tools%26gt;account settings%26gt;double click your account%26gt;More Settings%26gt;Advanced%26gt;and check "leave a copy of messages on the server"%26gt;Click OK
As for the messages which have already been downloaded to your office computer and deleted from your inbox, the only option is to forward them from the office computer to another Email account, as in, send them to yourself again.
If you want outlook to stop downloading your messages completely, then do as i said in the first step, but instead of double clicking on your account, just select it and click remove.
For gmail accounts:
Gmail never deletes your messages, even after downloading them, so you can safely remove your account from MS Outlook in the office, and your messages are still on the server.

How do you back up your email from MS OUTLOOK 2007 and then restore the back up to a new instilation?
bout Personal Folders files (.pst) and the backup tool
This article is written for the Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders Backup tool that is available as a download from Microsoft Office Online.
Unless you are using a Microsoft Exchange account or an HTTP account, such as Windows Live Mail, all of your Outlook data is saved in a Personal Folders file (.pst). Even when you have an Exchange or Windows Live Mail account, you can back up data to a .pst file, which is saved locally on your computer rather than on the e-mail server.
Each .pst file contains all of your Outlook folders, including the Inbox, Calendar, and Contacts. You can have a single .pst file (usually called Personal Folders in your Folder List), but you can also have an additional .pst file that you use for archiving. Using the Personal Folders Backup tool, you can back up any or all of these .pst files.
After you back up your information, you can copy these duplicates of your Outlook data to a removable media such as a CD or DVD. The backup files are exact copies of the original files and are saved in the same file format. You can receive periodic reminders to back up your files.
Notes
Personal Folders Backup tool only backs up .pst files. If you have an Exchange mailbox, your server mailbox folders should be backed up regularly by your Exchange administrator.
If you are using an East Asian operating system with an English version of Microsoft Office, you cannot use this download.

Compare Personal Folders Backup, exporting, and archiving
There are three ways to back up your Outlook e-mail messages, contacts, appointments, tasks, notes, and journal entries the Personal Folders Backup tool, exporting, and archiving.
Personal Folders Backup tool is used to copy your entire .pst file or files to your hard disk or to a network server or share.
Export is used to create a file containing Outlook information, but still keep the original data in your folders. You can only export one folder at a time.
Archive is used to move the items that you want to back up out of your folders.

Click the .pst file you want to open, and then click OK.
The name of the folder associated with the data file appears in the Folder List. To view the Folder List, on the Go menu, click Folder List. By default, the folder will be called Personal Folders.
Close the backup file by right-clicking it, and then click Close.
If you want to recover a large number of items or an entire folder, import the backup copy of the file. If you don't need to replace the entire folder, you can filter items to obtain the ones you want. Or you can import the entire folder and specify whether or not to replace duplicate items.
On the File menu, click Import and Export.

How can i transfer all mails and email address in MS Outlook 2000 from one computer to another without change?
Hi,
Follow the below mentioned steps carefully. It may sound complicated but trust me, it isn't:
Open the MS Outlook on your old computer. Go to "File" and "Import and export". Choose "Export to a file", click "Next". Choose "peronal folder file (.pst)" in the next dialog. In the next dialog you will be asked what files and folders you would like to export. Click on "personal folders". Check the checkbox "include subfolders". Click next, choose "allow duplicates to be created" and click next. Choose the location you would want outlook to export the files to, prefrably desktop. Click next.
Outlook will now create a .pst file called 'backup'. You need to get this file on to your new computer. Do so using a flash drive, burn it on a CD, email it to yourself or use a cross cable.
Assuming that you copied the backup file onto your new computer and its now placed on the desktop. Open the Outlook on your new computer. Go to the File%26gt;Import and export dialog like you did before. Choose "import from an application or file" click next. Choose "personal folder file (.pst), click next. Point to the backup file on your desktop by using the "browse" button. Choose "allow duplicates to be creatd" and click next. Outlook will import all our old emails, addresses, and other folders.
All the best!
Reply:The Personal Folder file (.pst / PST) is the place where Outlook stores its data (when you're using Outlook without Microsoftåº Exchange Server). Each Personal Folder file contains all of your Outlook folders, including the Inbox, Calendar, and Contacts. You may have a single .pst file (usually called "Internet Folders" or "Personal Folders" in your Folder List), and you may also have an additional .pst file that you use to archive messages (named "Archive Folders"). By backing up these PST files you will be backing up all your Outlook information . The hard part is locating the files...
Right-clicking on the Outlook Today icon found in your Outlook shortcuts, or the Outlook Today icon found in your folder list and then left-click "Properties".
Once the Properties dialog box is displayed, click the "Advanced" button.
The "Path...", indicates where your Personal Folder file can be found.
Write this path down and navigate to the designated folder (Outlook in this example)
OR
use your mouse cursor to copy (CTRL + C) and paste (CTRL + V) the path into Windows Explorer. Then, delete the "outlook.pst" at the end of the path and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. Explorer will automatically open the folder containing your Personal Folder.
Within the folder you should find an outlook.pst file . Copy and paste this file to a Zip disk or other backup source. It will probably be too large to copy to a floppy disk. If you archive your email, be sure to backup the archive.pst file as well.
Below lists key Outlook files that you may want to back up in addition to your Personal Folder(s). You will need to completely exit Outlook prior to copying these files. Depending upon your configuration some or all of these files may be present in your Outlook directory.
Personal Folders .pst files
Outlook Bar shortcuts .fav files
Rules Wizard rules .rwz files
Nicknames .nick files
Customized toolbar settings outcmd.dat
Customized system folder views Views.dat
Macros and VBA programs VbaProject.otm
Signatures .rtf, .htm, and .txt files
Stationary .htm files
Templates .oft files
Dictionary .dic files
Stores a reference to which extensions (addins) you have loaded. extend.dat files
If you have followed the steps above to backup your Outlook data, restoring is simple. All you do is copy the backup PST file(s) into the folder that you located when you initially backed up your work.
Keep in mind that if you overwrite your existing PST file with your backup PST file, any new data since the time of the backup will be deleted. If you have recent data that is not on the backup copy of your PST file and you don't want to loose the recent data, then you can use the "Import" command to add data instead of overwriting data.
Reply:In outlook on your old computer use 'file' -%26gt; 'import/export' menu to export all of your email and contacts and so on to a .pst file.
Copy the .pst file onto the new computer
On the new computer use 'file' -%26gt; 'import/export' menu to import the .pst file into the new outlook.
That's fine as long as you don't exceed the maximum size of .pst file. Some versions fail with .pst files over 2Gb. If you do have this problem, use the same route but export then import a folder at a time. Or even part of a folder at a time.
Reply:Find your .pst file. Save it. Put it on the new computer.
Reply:In outlook file menu select expot and save this *.pst file and in the other system import this file ....

How do you send email through MS Outlook through a different address?
You have to have both accounts configured in Outlook. Assuming you have already done that, then when you open an email, click reply, and then look towards the top of the email where the "From" is. There should be a little arrow to drop down and change it to your other email account. Same with new emails. When you click to compose a new email, you can click the arrow in the From box to select which email account you want it to send from.
Reply:I'm sure that you have different email accounts for both id's. You could place the different contacts with the different emails in your addres book.

How do I send an email (MS Outlook Express) with "undisclosed recipients" in the "To:" field?
I have a mass email to send to our neighborhood, but I do not want the email addresses showing. I have received emails with "undisclosed-recipients" in the To: field and would like to do the same using my Outlook Express.
I have tried bcc:. That would work, however, I get an error saying that I have too many recipients (about 125 recipients).
Thank you to anyone willing to help me out!
How do I send an email (MS Outlook Express) with "undisclosed recipients" in the "To:" field?
Outlook limits you to 50 recipients at a time. Use the BCC field but only choose 50 people to send to.
Reply:BCC
The server is probably rejecting it because that is a common thing that is done with spam My server rejects anything over 20 and I am being generous.
There is software that sends one at time which is the only way I know around that. Anything with several BCCs on it will be picked up by almost all spam filters. Frankly anything with that many TOs will probably be picked up.
